hmmm yesterday was a really nice day..except for last night - but i'll get to that later. after our morning in the town...walking around all the little shops and stuff.. we then spent all afternoon at the beach laying out...which was beautiful of course -- but it didnt take us long to realize that Mykonos is huuuuuuge party island... and apparently the beach where we are staying is where it is at. i've been around many parties in my time.. and im pretty sure i've never seen anything like this. it's a real good thing that emily and i are on the same page about this.. that neither of us have any desire to "party". its ridiculous really -- this really LOUD LOUD music and tons of drunk people all dancing all iver each other... all right on this bar on the beach.. and -- the beach itself is PACKED - its nuts. emily and i are going to try to find a more "laid back" beach this afternoon so we can actually relax while we are laying out... instead of being blown away by the thumping music and loud obnoxious drunk guys.



people here party all the time. i cant believe it. they literally party from 4pm - 7 am. when we were getting on our bus this morning to go into town -- people were getting on who had been up all night and were taking the bus back to go home to sleep.

sooo...we came up with the brilliant idea yesterday that we could save money by not actually sleeping in our tent with a cot -- and just sleep on the beach chairs on the beach... for FREE.. we were really proud of ourselves that we came up with this great idea. well --we get to the chairs and lay down.... of course - the loud music is playing away from down beach a little ways.. but we try to ignore it.. but after laying there for 2 hours, we realize it is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep there all night -- we literally were COVERED in moquito bites. hundreds of them... it looks like i have a rash going up my leg today because of all the bites. we were pretty miserable and agreed we could not stay there all night.. so we go up to get another night in the tent room with a cot... but of course - they are all out. the only option was to buy a tent and set it up - sooo.. thats what we did...with no sleeping bags or blankets...sleeping on the hard ground... as emily put it last night "we are two girls who dont rough it... who are roughing it"... but we are saving money by not spending a night in a room... so thats good. we may go get some kind of padding to put underneath us for tonight.

by the way... the typical drunk jackass isnt just an american thing like i thought it might be. nope - it translates all over the world. last night... some italian guys came up to us and said "hello? you speak italian" and we said no... then they said "hello hello. beautiful girl. hello hello. where are you. goodbye" it was very strange.. but that wasnt bad -- just funny. what was horible was the LOUD ridiculous partying going on all night while we were trying to sleep.

haha - it sounds like we are having a miserable time... but we really arent -- just the sleeping situation was a little frustrating. tbis morning, we got up early (ocouldnt stand to be sleeping ont hat hard ground anymore, really) and came into town -- and had breakfast at this cafe on the beach.. and we sat there for hours drinking coffee, eating crepes and talking...while looking into the sea as a nice breeze was blowing. it was perfect. after our time here at the internet cafe - we plan to find a laid back beach and lay out again for the afternoon. loving it!
