well... we dont have a lot of time - so i will try to make this quick!
we spent all day at the beach yesterday at the beach again... which was great...unfortunately, i am feeling the effects of it today. i am sunburnt pretty bad on my face and chest and randomly...around my ankles. it has caused my ankles to swell and they are really red - emily thinks it could be an infection from a sunburn. we are gonna try to put benadryl or something on it first before i take any anti-biotics and see if that helps. but -- carrying around that heavy backpack on my burnt shoulders has been pretty miserable.
anyway - we rode an overnight ferry last night to Athens...then took a train to Patra today. It was a really cool train ride...went along the southern coast of greece -- it was the beach out our window the entire way - beautiful! it was a reaaally bumpy ride... but it made it seem more of an authentic ride. hah.
we are about to board our ferry here...for a 17 hour ferry ride (overnight) to the southern part of Italy, where from there...we will take a bus or train to Naples.
we have been buying food from the market the past few days to eat on the beach instead of paying to eat out. so yesterday -- we boughta loaf of fresh bread, cheese, meat... and a jar of pickles! we were laying out... and all of a sudden we got drenched! the waves had come in and covered alll of our stuff. i had to chase my flip flops into the water then they got washed somewhere down shore. our bread got soaked...and so did our purses...anyway - later we were sitting down to eat and we realized our pickles were missing! our pickles got washed away by the waves... maybe they will wash up some where and someone can enjoy them...who knows.
well - we are about to board the ferry - gotta go now
love to you all!

Hey girls
It's funny how I just asked you about wearing sunscreen yesterday! Be careful. Remember the sun burn from last year's road trip? I'm hoping that you found some benadryl cream and it helped.
You didn't mention how the overnight ferry ride was -hope it was okay and you were able to get some sleep.
I didn't realize that the ferry to Italy was going to be so long --I hope you take a picture of these ferries so we can see what they are like.
I love you! Be careful and have FUN!
Okay.....we now have the Case of the Missing Tent and the Case of the Missing Pickles! What great adventures you will have to share with your grandchildren. But of course you have to have children first. Okay, now that I have mentioned children.........I will refrain from doing that for the rest of your trip. Just didn't want to disappoint Emily by not mentioning that topic.
Emily, take care of Brooke and her sunburn........hope the 17 hour ferry ride contains no mysteries. Is there food on the ferries? How do you sleep on the ferry? Are you going to try to go to Riomaggiore? Love you guys, Linda
